Grosz Bridge – “Little green bridge”
One of the most beautiful pedestrian bridges in Poland, situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Opole! Its name comes from the one-grosz toll that was collected there in the past from those seeking passage.
The locals call it the Green Bridge or the Lovers’ Bridge. The latter name comes from the fact that it has hundreds of padlocks hanging from it with initials and names of couples engraved on them. Hanging a such a padlock is supposed to guarantee everlasting love. It certainly is one of the most widely recognised, known and loved places in the Polish Song Capital, both among the locals and visitors. The secession-style two-span metal pedestrian bridge hangs above the wonderfully green Młynówka Canal. It is a perfect place for a romantic walk.
