Autumn Salon

This annual event is a unique contest held by those in the Opole artistic community who are members of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. The exhibition takes place in the Opole Modern Art Gallery, and as one of the most important cultural events in the region it is an eagerly-awaited presentation of current trends in local art.
The history of the Autumn Salon dates back to the 1950s and 60s, and the event has since become a permanent artistic feature of the city. The exhibition is interdisciplinary in nature and presents paintings, drawings, sculptures, glasswork, graphics, photographs, installations, as well as conceptual projects and new media. It is a place for dialogue between creators and spectators, as well as an opportunity for established artists to meet with those who are just starting out, for whom the exhibition may be their first chance to present their work.
An average of forty artists participate in the event every year. The exhibition takes place either between September and October or between October and November. The opening ceremony includes the handing out of awards by the President of Opole, Marshal of Opole Voivodeship, Association of Polish Artists and Designers and the Modern Art Gallery. The works presented during the contest are judged by a jury consisting of renowned artists and art critics from across Poland. Definitely worth seeing!
