Book Festival
Even though it is a young festival, it has proven to be one of the most successful events in recent years, having managed to completely steal the show for the entirety of its three-day timespan. The event takes place in Freedom Square near the library, where you can sit in a deck chair and immerse yourself in the written word.
The key to the festival’s success is its programme, replete with meet and greet sessions featuring literary celebrities. Previous guests have included Katarzyna Bonda, Mariusz Szczygieł, Szymon Hołownia, Janusz Leon Wiśniewski, Michał Rusinek, Krzysztof Varga, Opole local Remigiusz Mróz, Katarzyna Grochola, Grzegorz Miecugow, Wojciech Jagielski, Sylwia Chutnik, Marcin Kydryński, Tomasz Raczek, Artur Andrus, Tomasz Sekielski and Maciej Orłoś.
The Opole Book Festival is primarily about meeting great authors, but it also features a book fair attended by many publishing houses from across Poland, offering an opportunity to buy many new releases at great prices. You can also expect workshops, meetings and activities for children, as well as evening concerts, which have so far featured performances by Sabina Sago, Ania dąbrowska, Julia Marcell and Fisz Emade Tworzywo. The event is organised by Drukarnia Opolgrad and the Fabryka Inspiracji PL foundation under the auspices of the City of Opole.
