Opole Marathon

42,195 metres – this is the distance that participants of the Opole Marathon have to traverse while marvelling at the beauty of the Song Capital of Poland. And a beautiful city it is!
The participants start at the impressive modernist building belonging to the Voivodeship Office, cross the Piast Bridge on the Oder and go past the venerable Opole Cathedral, skirt the Market Square with its lovely tenements and run next to the beautiful, 19th-century Main Railway Station. The finish line is traditionally located in the car park of the legendary Opole Amphitheatre.
The first Opole Marathon was organised in 2011, and recent editions have become large-scale celebrations for both the city and the region, with nearly one and a half thousand attendees!
Everyone who loves and practices running can participate in one of five categories: the marathon, consisting of four loops of more than 10.5 kilometres; the half-marathon; the 10 km run; the company relay consisting of 4 x 5.274 km stages, or the mini-marathon for children, which is 421 metres in length. This event promotes running among the young and old, the more and less experienced, among professionals and amateurs.
