Opole Mountain Festival
To climb up and up, to reach peak after peak – this is the eternal striving of mankind. To overcome fear, weakness, sometimes pain – this is what is learned by those who reach the top. Dating back to 2012, the Opole Mountain Festival has been an opportunity to listen to tales spun by those who love mountaineering – be it climbing, hiking or running uphill. Prominent climbers, mountaineers, runners and mountain experts have participated in the event, including Krzysztof Wielicki, Alex Txikon, Marcin Tomaszewski, Jerzy Natkański and Olek Ostrowski – the first Pole to ski down Cho Oyu.
But the Opole Mountain Festival is not only about meeting people. You can buy mountaineering equipment, enjoy books and film screenings, participate in first aid workshops and attend speeches and scientific panel discussions on topics such as physical performance. Those who prefer actions to words can test themselves on a climbing wall. The festival is managed by the National Centre of Polish Song, Opole Highmountain Club and Primary School No. 11.
