World Press Photo
The best press photographs, recipients of the most important and prestigious award given by the World Press Photo foundation in Amsterdam, are presented every year in 45 countries across the globe. Those photographs have so far been presented in Opole 18 times. The event takes place between November and December, and has become a fixed part of the local exhibition calendar. Thousands of people come every year to see how the modern world can be captured by a camera lens. Recent editions have focused on the European refugee crisis, as well as the bloody conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, as well as on important social issues and matters related to the environment and animals. With perfect angles and impeccable technique, they wrench your heart and sear themselves into your memory.
